Abilities

As not only an adjuchas-level arrancar but also as an Espada, Grimmjow exhibits a wide array of hollow abilities. In addition, releasing his zanpakutou results in an addition of abilities at his disposal:

Sans Zanpakutou:

*Cero- This is a destructive blast of energy used by hollows (and arrancar) within the Menos Grande classes and by vaizards. Its kanji (虚閃) mean “hollow flash.” Arrancar shoot ceros in their own individual manners, such as out of the mouth or by pointing a finger. Grimmjow seems to fire his cero out of the palm of his hand. Espada exclusively can use a stronger version called “Gran Rey Cero.”
*Bala- This is an alternative to the cero that is used exclusively by arrancar. This technique involves hardening the user’s reiatsu and firing it like bullets. While this is weaker than a cero, it is much faster. While Grimmjow hasn’t used this canonically (ie: in the manga), he does utilize it in video games such as Bleach: Hakujin Kirameku Rondo.
*Negación- This is an energy field that surrounds and protects ally hollows. While Grimmjow has yet to use this specific ability, he has used an Espada-exclusive alternative: Caja Negación. Espada typically use this ability to punish subordinates, but Grimmjow has proven that it may be used on other Espada. However, its effects are not permanent on Espada.
*Pesquisa- This is a pulse of energy that is used to detect reiatsu.

Zanpakutou:

Grimmjow’s zanpakuto Pantera is unleashed with the phrase, “kishire” which means to grind, namely one’s teeth. When he releases, he becomes slimmer and more predatory, much like a panther. He is much faster in this state. In addition, releasing provides him with a wide array of new abilities:

*Destructive Voice- This ability has no given name. Grimmjow’s roars in this state produce destructive sound waves.
*Darts- Grimmjow has another nameless ability. He has spikes along his arms that he can fire like darts. They hold an immense destructive power.
*Desgarrón- At last an attack with a name! Grimmjow declares Desgarrón as his ultimate attack. He appears to scratch the air, creating large claws of energy.
